Works great for my 2.3 on my ranger (Mazda engine). I would suggest going to a hardware store and matching the tool's thread pattern to the individual screw. Then make sure the bolt is long enough for the same depth as the pin you need to use. You can then paint mark the bolt and use spacers, and use the bolt to hold the crank in place while you tighten it to a horrendous 200+ foot-pounds of torque. It worked very well for me, it didn't need a second hand. Used the pin after tightening to check TDC and all was good.
