Barb is too small for 5/8 hose.
The barbs are too small for 5/8 hose, the smallest diameter of the barb should be 5/8 and the barb should be greater than 5/8. These have the largest diameter of the barb at 5/8 The barb does not bite into the hose and a clamp will not seal it any better than a strait piece of 5/8 pipe or tube.Net result is the fitting leaks.
