Review on ASUS XONAR SE 5.1 Channel πŸ”Š Hi-Res Sound Card with Windows 10 Compatibility by Chris Moody

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent quality, quiet and interference-free

192kHz/24bit Hi-Res 116dB SNR for $39. Such properties used to cost around $200. The sound quality is top notch. The only "high-end" feature it doesn't have is the RCA output found on high-end sound cards. However, since it has an optical output, adding a $20 DAC will add to the high-end specs. On Windows 10, the card works without installing any software. The operating system recognizes the device automatically. However, it is important to install the Asus driver and software anyway. Asus' proprietary driver makes a big difference in signal-to-noise ratio. The card is actually quite strange, works with the Universal Windows Driver. Obviously the signal-to-noise ratio depends not only on the hardware but also on the software (probably both the driver and the signal processor). In addition to the driver, the software has a control panel. It's also better to download the latest version from the Asus website instead of using the CD that came with the device.
