The starter works, which I can't say about my old one. I would advise an extra gear though as the plastic will break indefinitely. The funny thing is my battery survived the plastic gear which says a lot for lawn and garden batteries as they don't last long and no I don't connect my battery to a trickle charger which definitely lasts the batteries. some years. If you can find a non-plastic gear (and you have a steel flywheel ring gear) I would definitely recommend installing it on this starter before installing it as it is quite difficult to install on my mower at least, and That way you know it's going to last and you don't have to remove the starter to replace a part. If you have an aluminum ring gear on your flywheel, be sure to get some spare gears.
