You're definitely paying more for a small giant brand name stair hanger and there are other options or out there. In the past I've used an off-the-shelf ladder hanger, which was functional but always got in the way. The design of this bracket holds the ladder securely and is easier to install and remove than other designs I've used. It's also unobtrusive. It's strong enough that I didn't notice much flex in the mount. For me it justifies the premium price. I've only used it for a small giant staircase so don't know how well it works with other brands.
