This is an attractive scarf, long enough to wrap your neck and lower face well (or the entire face and head if needed) when you go into the FROZEN TUNDRA -States live. Like Wisconsin! I moved back to Wisconsin last year after living in sunny California for 31 years, so I needed this protective scarf. The scarf is 100% acrylic, so it should be easy to wash and dry. It is said to be "thickly knitted with braids". When I see this, I assume that there is no air between the stitches at all. That's not really the case with this scarf, but it certainly helps in snowy winds and low temperatures when you're trying to run through icy snow from a restaurant door to your car.
