This groove gets the job done as you would expect from an inexpensive tool. Cuts a nice smooth groove and feels good in the hand. You won't give the impression that this is a high quality instrument, but for the price it does an excellent job. To adjust it, turn a ring that moves it away from the cutter bar. It exerts just enough pressure for you to know the handle won't slip off when cutting, but I'm wondering if the design could allow you to overtighten and break the handle. However, when used it worked well and carved a grove where my stitches lay well. Would recommend if you want to build up a collection of basic leatherworking tools at a good price. The attached picture is of a concealed carry holster I made recently. I used a larger thread so it doesn't lay all the way down.
