Review on Bare Home Twin XL Mattress Protector: Premium Waterproof & Cooling | Vinyl-Free | White by Josh Jeffries

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I have three, don't wait - FIVE of them!

I have three of these: two TXLs and one queen size. I love the thin terry top. I feel like it helps keep the mattress topper from making the bed "hot". I put a queen bed on top of our master bedroom bed just for protection and put it on top of a regular padded mattress topper. Two double XL pads are on my husband's hospital bed in the same room. He is now 76 years old and has Parkinson's disease with Lewy bodies. Recently, he fell while throwing a ball at a dog and bruised his thigh. He was not the same after the operation under anesthesia, although the leg had healed well. However, his cognitive problems quadrupled. He went from relatively independent to totally dependent and in a wheelchair. Now he has incontinence problems. I use these pads consistently, layering his bed and using protective pads. If we have an accident at night, I can roll up a soiled pillow, sheet, and mattress pad, and underneath I have another clean sheet and mattress pad. These wash great. If I had one criticism, I would like the terrycloth top to fall at least halfway down the sides of the mattress. TWICE he had an accident sitting on the edge of the bed and the sides of the mattress topper were regular stretch knit NOT waterproof. THEN I have to strip and wash ALL the layers - (grimace.) I bought a zip around waterproof cover as total protection for the bottom layer of the mattress and it saved a good memory foam mattress I bought (at Revain ;) ) to replace the cheap and uncomfortable mattress that came with the hospital bed. I remember actually having FOUR or FIVE of these pads. I also bought them for the upstairs beds to protect against possible accidents when the younger grandchildren come over to visit.

Pros
  • Sturdy finish
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
