I watched my 11 month old daughter play enthusiastically with this toy, quickly squeezing bubbles, turning it over and squeezing it again. Faster and faster every time, pop, pop, bubbles still remain. A pathetic scream began to escape from my daughter's heart, a primal scream of disappointment and pain. She clapped and clicked and kept clapping until the scream turned into a screech. Eventually she dropped the toy on the floor and shook her hands at the sheer futility of it all. What is all this for? Why are we fighting so hard? Is life nothing but eternal work? If all the tasks are memorized, does every work bring no satisfaction, since no matter how hard it is, there are infinite bubbles left? 5/5 will again provoke an existential crisis in the child.
