This waterless odor trap is very easy to install in a 4 inch pipe. Just make sure you got the right size and paste it now. Installation takes less than a minute. The apartment building has a drain in the utility room. I used to have a sewer but I couldn't figure out where the smell in the room was coming from. Spoke to a plumber who said he couldn't help me as it wasn't a plastic pipe to connect to. Another plumber wanted $350 to try and fix it. Finally found this product and I am delighted. The smell was gone immediately. Before installing, I tested the trap in a laundry tub to see how it worked. You can run water through the top at full speed and the water will drain over it. If you turn it upside down and run water on the device, it will repel water. Smart and inexpensive. Think you might need to replace it every 5 years or so as it's rubbery and comes in contact with water off the floor and dirt and traps sewage gasses in the drain.
