Review on Vintage Charm with Modern Convenience: Royal 79119q Classic Manual Typewriter in Enchanting Purple by Bryan King

Poor workmanship

This is a cheap imitation created to take advantage of the current interest in retro typewriters. I returned mine because it was so crudely made compared to the old typewriters which were precise machines with fine workmanship. Don't expect that from this thing! The letters are unevenly typed and everything is done very flimsy. There is no automatic ribbon reversal at the end of the roll that every typewriter I've ever used has had. I've used probably a dozen different manual typewriters over the years, and each has been so much better than this one, with reliable, clean, and easy input, that comparing this typewriter to them is like comparing a cottage to the Sistine Chapel. If you just want to put it somewhere as a decoration, that might be fine. But if you really want to print with it, that's a joke.

Pros
  • Preinstalled black and red ribbon and paper strips
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
