I recently searched online for these Hario coasters and found that most reviewers have no idea what the true utility is. Most of them are oddly shaped and have a small base that doesn't fit most scales. When people ask about adjusting their scale, others simply say you can put the base on the scale. This totally defeats the purpose! When measuring the amount of coffee you extract, all you see on the scale is the cup that collects the coffee, nothing else. Otherwise, you'll never be accurate with soaked coffee grounds and can't be sure you're always getting it right. I prefer to have full control over all variables so others don't interfere with my weights. With the original Hario stand you can place the scale and the cup/pot under the coffee filter. The problem is that only their small official Hario scales are guaranteed for use on the pedestal and for storage. Lots of space. Thank you Yamazaki for being the only company offering a real solution.
