I bought a board game for my 4 year old grandson which contained two small dice. I didn't want to risk my 18 month old granddaughter putting the small dice in her mouth so I bought these large dice and they were perfect for playing with. Too big for a toddler to swallow but small enough for kids to grab and roll around. Also robust enough for rough handling with little hands that don't quite understand how to roll dice on the playing field, but prefer to roll dice in the air. Durable but soft enough not to hurt if the bones accidentally come into contact with one of the game participants. Almost any board game can become a contact sport with young children, which is why these dice are clearly preferable to conventional hard plastic dice.
