Review on Unleash the Power of Rug Doctor Mighty Commercial Cleaner by Calvin Reynolds

Well built, reliable choice for home use

I've had a Bissell machine for many years and when it finally got out of this mortal world I decided to just rent cars instead. You see, I have a cat, or rather, a cat has me. There are two kinds of people in this world: people who love cats and normal people. Cat lovers are crazy, impossible to negotiate with them, and they insist on keeping wild cats in the house. The latest incarnation of the woman's cat loves to play a game called "Who pooped?" Not surprisingly, this is a cat, and she's often out of the litter box. Deep down, I don't think Bissell Carpet Cleaner is dead. I think he's figured out how to burn his own engine and not deal with another turd. I don't blame him. I've got a big house now, dirty and smelling like carpet now, so hooray. Since cat projectiles are fired from both sides like a mammalian MIRV, it makes sense to have a powerful anti-cat device on hand. It also makes sense to have a machine that is easy to fill, clean and move. This is largely successful. Firstly, unlike other machines with two tanks, here you have to fill one. You seriously need a bucket. Bucket. Mix up the cleaning solution (and your PROHIBITED additives that could void your warranty). Wild animals, such as so-called domestic cats, stink. Febreze makes a detergent that works very well. Rug Doctor and other products may contain Oxyclean which is great for pet stains. Mix this in a bucket with water at the right temperature for your carpet type. In general, do not use hot water. This can damage the properties of your carpets. Moderate to cool water is best. You open the top of the machine, take out a white tank-like bucket, and carefully pour the mixture into the filter in the base tank. Overall, it holds a little more than 2-3 liters. The big surprise is the complete absence of all kinds of things and gimmicks. You turn it on. There's a red button you hold down that simultaneously sprays the mixture, agitating the carpet for cleaning, and sucking dirt from the carpet into a white reservoir at the top. To use it effectively, pull it instead of pushing it. To switch to the hand tool I used for the stairs, toggle a button from carpet to hand tool. Pull up the grease collection hose behind the machine and connect it to the hand tool. Slide the double ring quick release valve up, this requires light pressure. Connect the quick release valve from the hand tool by pushing the double ring all the way in, push the valve into position until it clicks and release the double ring. Nice tight working ship with brass rings. Plug the machine back in and the hand tool is now working. To be honest it's just okay. It's not as great as I had hoped. It's probably good for furniture, but not good enough for stairs where I really need to kick ass. I would pay really good money for a handheld that blends carpets just as well as a machine but fits on the steps. That's why I gave one star. In terms of clean cleaning power, what I consistently found in the tank was disgusting, which didn't surprise me. The sewage was pitch black. We clean our carpets regularly and have never seen anything like this. However, after cleaning the carpet was wetter than I would have liked and I wish the machine would pull out more water than it was despite the very slow cleaning process I used. Carpets are expected to dry up to 4 hours after cleaning, even if several times without pressing the red spray button. In terms of weight when the tank is empty and the machine is empty, this is a surprisingly light machine. The handle is foldable for easy storage. I'm assuming we can fit it in the garage with no problem. A great tip I gleaned from a great YouTube video is how to completely drain your machine after use. Take it to the driveway and set it to Hand Tools mode while still connected to the main tank. Then plug it in and let it run until the tank is empty. I will use this tip to run clean water through my machine to ensure it is completely clean after use.
