Disappointing - carpet steamers

This is a decent carpet cleaner, the tanks are the same size as the ones you rent but not as powerful and not as massive. Leaves carpets much wetter than the Bissell Home Line we've replaced.

Pros
  • understandable even for the old ones
Cons
  • Clarity

Good value for money! Possibly mediocre value after 1 year.

In general, the car is good and worth the money. The only criticism is the hose. We had an issue where it sprayed water continuously, saturating every item being cleaned. Customer service said it would be under warranty but to replace it would require charging the entire car and driving 100 miles to our nearest service center to have it checked by Revain post replacement. However, a 1-year update is recommended. The pump has stopped and no longer sprays water. I can't recommend it because it…

Great car! - Carpet Steamer

For years I have rented carpet doctor machines from places like Walmart. I like to mop the carpets multiple times (a few times with hot water and soap, a few times just with cold water) so it takes me quite a while to get the whole house in order. To return the car within 24 hours I would shampoo it non-stop for HOURS lol. I always thought that the rent is not very clean. I mean you never know what people will put in their fresh water tank or what they will use the car for 😳 I finally gave in…

Never again - carpet steamer

Worked great for less than a year, then the water pump stopped working. That shouldn't be a big problem as it was still under warranty. I called the company and they will only service it if I take it to an authorized repair center - nearest center is five hours away. The only other option they could offer me was to ship the entire air purifier to them at my expense and the repair would have taken over a month and a half. This is terrible maintenance for a cheap car that I paid too much for to…

Used carpet cleaners of all consumer brands. Then I tried. Had to buy

*********** Update after 1 year ****** ******** Brushes stopped working. I have used this device about 30 times in the last year with an average session length of 30 minutes. Looks like Rug Doctor should have the best quality control. It is maintenance free and hopefully under warranty. I have already bought, used and destroyed almost all consumer grade carpet cleaners. Many of them have used brushes to ruin my carpet and not absorb the water fully, making my carpet feel very "greasy," as I can

Pros

Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Better than the ones I rented

Due to the square size and shape I wasn't sure when I ordered this machine. I can tell you that this cleaner cleans the floors of every scrubber I've had. The latest was the Bissell Pet Pro Heat and this machine cleans five times better. The brush at the bottom vibrates with great force to penetrate deeply. It has suction power so no puddles of water are left behind. I have a 20 year old stained carpet and he did a great job cleaning it. The hand cleaner is great and has a lot of suction power.

Warranty Attention - no local service centers

The product worked well. But after a year the pump failed. No problem - there's a guarantee, right? Wrong - that's where the problem started. There are no local service centers. I could drive three hours and give it to a service center and then of course three hours to pick it up. Or I could send it to a service center for just over $100. The customer service rep suggested I contact the local store to see if they would become a customer service rep, which I did. They said they would contact the

Pros
  • Constant test results
Cons
  • Some small things

We've rented them from local shops so many times that my wife and I finally decided to buy our own. The market for "professional" home carpet cleaners appears to be dominated by the Rug Doctor and Bissell Big Green. I read so many reviews and watched so many videos comparing these two machines that I had a very hard time deciding. Everyone swears that one of them is vastly superior to the other, but it's never the same winner. In the end, two things brought me to the Rug Doctor. The first was…

Great machine well built and does a great job with carpets

I bought this machine after my dog left to give the carpets a deep cleaning. I have rented it in the past but didn't like the gross factor of not knowing what it was last used for and if it was cleaned. Like the rental machines it did a great job not getting the carpet wet but removing a lot of dirt. Unfortunately, I found that the upholstery attachment was leaking. I could have returned it but was able to do what I had to do to delete that part despite the leaks. I then took it to my local…

Well built, reliable choice for home use

I've had a Bissell machine for many years and when it finally got out of this mortal world I decided to just rent cars instead. You see, I have a cat, or rather, a cat has me. There are two kinds of people in this world: people who love cats and normal people. Cat lovers are crazy, impossible to negotiate with them, and they insist on keeping wild cats in the house. The latest incarnation of the woman's cat loves to play a game called "Who pooped?" Not surprisingly, this is a cat, and she's…
