I live in Oklahoma right on the lake. I love the lake view but hate the humidity. My house stays above 50% humidity. This complicates my passion for 3D printing, especially with PETG and Nylon filaments. I've been using homemade drying boxes for a while, but they take a long time to dry the floss. I've even tried using a food dehydrator, but it's too big to keep it on all the time, so it's problematic. When I saw people talking about the Sunlu dry box on Facebook, I was intrigued because it met all the requirements I wanted. Size, speed, customizability, the ability to print straight out of the box, and easier than DIY. I'm a skeptic so I had to try the product as soon as I received it. I tested the Dry Box by drying a roll of 1kg PETG roll (about 0.9kg left) that I accidentally (rottenly) left lying around for a couple of weeks. If you are familiar with 3D printing, not using PETG is not a good idea. Here's how I tested the device: 1. I obtained the baseline of a PETG roll by placing it in a sealed rubber lined container for 4 hours. The hygrostat in the mobile container leveled off at 53% after two hours and stayed at this level the whole time.2. I placed the PETG in the Sunlu Dry Box according to the instructions. The recommended temperature for PETG is 48-52 degrees. I set the temperature to 50 degrees and the timer on my Echo to 4 hours. Actually, you can also set the time on the dry box, but I wanted an alarm to notify me so I can remove the thread in exactly 4 hours.3. I put the PETG roll back in the Rubbermaid container and tested it after 2 hours. The moisture reading was 34%, a 19% drop in just 4 hours! I really like this product for several reasons. Here are the pros and cons as I see them: Pros - Good instructions - A user-configurable timer that turns off the device after a set amount of time. The default value is 6 hours, but the user can set it between 0 and 24 hours. The user can adjust the drying temperature according to the needs of different yarns, and the actual and set temperature are displayed on the LCD, unlike competitors (recommended temperature table for different yarns included). Very effective at drying PETG and Nylon (the only things I've tested so far) - Small form factor so I don't have to use it all the time - Filament can be used in the box (keeps it conditioned) - Excellent service customers. Do not report humidity readings on the LCD. This is not a breach of contract. Alternatively, you can easily purchase a Revain humidistat for <$3.00. Turning off the device from the menu requires multiple button presses. I would prefer a manual switch. As you can see, I really like this product. I wish I could afford to buy two more now. I will receive them in time.
