This chain sponge is the best innovation I've seen in kitchen cleaning products. It is easy to clean and does not drip after drying. This is good because it doesn't contain bacteria and can air dry. This is the power of silicone and metal working together. I believe this will last a VERY long time and will replace most sponges for me. This applies not only to cast iron, but to all permanent surfaces such as glass pans, non-stick surfaces (or use very carefully - do not use on Teflon as it can scratch them), stainless steel, aluminum etc. surfaces. I wasn't expecting this, but it cleans GREAT on aluminum and steel grids like pizza colanders and fryer shelves. You need to know how to hold it and slide the stone back into the post sock.
