I bought an 8mm railing adapter and installed it on my lower stair gate. It worked great, unfortunately the gate only lasted a day before it broke on its hinges. I returned it to Revain and bought a different brand gate and used the railing adapter again. This gate was higher at the point of contact with the railing, so I had to spread the adapter a bit more to get a good fit. It's no problem and now it fits perfectly. That works great. It seems well done. If you need to install gates and pressurize railings, I recommend this article. Just make sure you buy the right size spindle.
