I put two of these in the sump for my 140 gallon freshwater setup. They replaced the Little Giant 4MDQX, which was much louder and less efficient. This surprised me since these DC pumps are much cheaper. I'm running them at full power, which makes the variable speed feature useless for this application. In retrospect, I should have bought a DCT-8000. OK, one downside. With the Little Giant pump, I knew it was time to add water when bubbles appeared in the stream. However, these DCT pumps will be damaged at the first sign of air intake. The symptom is "chirp-chirp" from time to time, which becomes more frequent over time until it becomes just "chirrrr." Watch out for the water level!
