No longer a reliable product

For almost a year these TDK 8x DVD spindles have been one of the best secret offers on the market: compared to other reliable but extremely expensive and much slower Verbatim and Sony DL it was a steel . For about half the price, they burned out faster and delivered the same quality, but with a scrap ratio of about 1:9. I used to buy spindles in sets of 2 because I tried so many. But the rest is true. After the manufacturer changed production sites, the quality almost collapsed. I didn't believe it at first and ordered two more spindles and I should have known from the start that they were right. The label, spindle packaging, and disc stickers have changed to look cheaper, and product performance has gotten even worse. Although I have yet to comment, the discs look pathetic. Layer bridge hanging used to relate to the type of recorder/player you have - I've never had problems with layer bridge for example - but it's happened to every disc I've burned since. Oddly, on my player (Sony), the bridge hangs more when you try to rewind it OVER. So these discs used to be great, but now they've changed production methods and locations and they just suck. Unfortunately, you'll probably have to do what I'm reluctant to do, which is shell out reliable but slower Sony and Verbatim DL drives. I almost NEVER have problems with either of these brands.
