I was very happy to receive this mandolin for Christmas. I used it for the first time yesterday and today to slice carrots on it. I was happy with the thin slices/cutlets, but the carrot not only discolored the plastic, it even discolored the blade! And washing didn't remove the discoloration. I could probably live with discolored plastic, but the blade discoloration makes me wonder what material is used for it. Is it safe to use? I'm not sure. Has anyone had a similar experience and can the manufacturer assure me it is safe to use? There is no way to contact the manufacturer to ask about this issue.
