Not as bright as fluorescent

In general, when we replace incandescent bulbs with LED, the light output will be brighter. Not so with these, they are definitely darker. The color is not the typical fluorescent yellow-green, but softer, almost with a pink tinge. One of the downsides to these lamps is that the instructions were for a different type of replacement lamp so the instructions were useless. Luckily, figuring it out wasn't difficult (see below). Another downside is that it comes with a wiring harness with a connector that you have to cut off. It also doesn't include the necessary wire nuts for the modification. All in all, not a very pleasant experience, especially at $10 for a lightbulb! *** Instructions *** Turn off the power to the headlights using the switch. Remove the lamp cover and remove the old lamps. Remove the ballast cover. Find two switchable power cords for your fluorescent lights (12v only). Cut them out of the ballast when you identify them. Locate the +12V line with a voltmeter (possibly red or black). After identifying the wires, turn off the power switch. Disconnect the quick connector on the red wire of the included wiring harness and connect it to the +12V line. Use a wire nut (not included) or solder the wires together and use electrical tape or shrink tubing to insulate. Connect the negative wire (probably white or black) to the black wire and insulate it. Replace ballast cover. Connect the black harness connector to the connector on the back of the lamp. Turn on the device to make sure the connection is correct. Install light bulbs in the lamp. Please note that you can rotate the bulbs so that the light falls in the right direction. Insert the second black connector into the second bulb. Insert in holder. Check functionality. Place the clear cover back onto the bracket.
