Illustrations show two nuts side by side: original nut (left) and ACDelco nut (right). Firstly, as you can see from the photos, this nut is significantly deeper than the original nut which means it doesn't clear the cotter pin slot on the spindle meaning you have to go without a cotter pin. Your choice. Second, the nylon ring on the end of the original nut is threaded, on the ACDelco the nylon ring is unthreaded which further aggravates the problem as the unthreaded ring on the end does not allow the nut to fully penetrate the spindle. . Seriously WHAT IS THIS?!
