Review on KYB SM5483 Strut Mount Kit by Shane Popo

I bought KYB struts (KYB 333462 Excel-G), dust boots (KYB strut shoe SB101) and two KYB SM5483 strut mounting kits for my daughter's 2005 Saturn Ion 2 as a Christmas present . I installed it professionally on December 27th, 2012, the installation went pretty smoothly. Sometime in March, my daughter reported that every time she turned the steering wheel, there was a creaking noise coming from the left side of her car. At first I thought the problem was a bad ball joint, so I replaced the wishbones (also bought from Revain). After I removed the control arm it was easy to see that the strut mount plate had failed, so this part failed after three months of use. Brought the car back to the site where it is being repaired and they confirmed the floor panel was defective. I contacted KYB and they said to send it back to the place of purchase to determine if the part is defective and eligible for a refund or replacement. And to top it off, they don't cover the cost of any repairs, whether they're done professionally or not. I'm not sure how Revain will handle this, but we'll see that they're a good company. my scolding. If you buy a part and have it installed by an ASE-certified technician and the part fails, the part manufacturer must pay for the repair. Update: The car was repaired and the large rubber grommet that is built into the mount was definitely broken. . I'm not sure who the KYB supplier was, but whoever it was. they knew it beforehand. Firstly the hub was painted black and secondly some of the ribs on the hub are hollow (should be solid). Essentially, someone in that supply chain knowingly sold a defective part. If you buy one, check the ground plane and socket. If the jack looks painted, send it back. Note. I emailed KYB support regarding this issue and have not received a response.
