I teach my pup to help me with a few small things and walking around the house at night is part of it. I taught her how to turn on these lights for me so I don't have to turn on all the big lights. I liked them because they protect well from a wet puppy nose and completely cover the outlet so you can plug other items into the second outlet. I also have older versions that are running great after a year. They come in handy when you have guests who are less familiar with the location of the switches. I have one in the guest bathroom so they don't have to turn on a bright light. It's bright, but enough for me, not too bright. I can see well, but it doesn't wake me like an overhead light. My masseuse thought they were the coolest thing he had ever seen and I have to agree they deserve a mention. We have a dirty room with no window and it's getting dark in there. It's silly to turn on a big light just to get from the kitchen to the garage or vice versa, and these lights are the perfect solution to that problem. Not to mention that we usually have our hands full arriving or leaving, so we don't have to fiddle with the light switch - it's a blessing. Your sensitivity is impressive. At about 4-5 feet away, my dog turns on the light. I chose GE over other brands because they cost about the same and GE isn't going anywhere anytime soon. I like that kind of guarantee in case there is ever a problem. I know I can contact someone at GE - I'm not sure about those other companies - and when you're talking about something that could pose a fire hazard, it's just not the time to take chances.
