I have a special needs daughter who does not understand security. Nor is she afraid. We had to be very vigilant and keep an eye on the front and back doors of the house because she was always trying to sneak out without permission. These door alarms allow you to put up another "barricade" (security measure) to keep them safe inside. She can't get to where we set the alarm, so she can't turn it off without our knowledge. She also HATES the sound the alarm clock makes, which also keeps her from opening the door to go outside to play without our knowledge. I'm not saying these alarms replace surveillance, but since safety is our number one priority, these alarms serve as another pair of eyes and ears to warn the family that the door has been opened.
