The body of the lighter is not made of steel but of brass with a light steel coating.
Love this brushed steel finish. I was able to add my own detailing to the finish by sanding the sections, slightly exposing the brass underneath, and then heating with a butane torch to paint the remaining steel. Very cool vintage result. And the lighter works perfectly. The case looks better than my new Zippo armor.
