It came down to a choice between 24-85 and 24-70, and I also thought about tamrons and sigmas. Nevertheless, I've been burnt more than time by the quality of Sigma and Tamron lenses, so I've chosen to refrain from being greedy and settle with this pair instead. 24-70 is not happy with the size and weight, so I wanted to take something universal that I could take on hikes and drag around the city. 24-70 is not happy with the size and weight. Pricing, build quality, photo quality, weight, and size are some of the positive aspects of this product. Macro mode, it's real, and I took it on mountain trips, where it withstood snow, rain, hail, fog, and dampness. I was able to capture clear images in all of these conditions. Various disadvantages: I won't write about constant aperture, in the studio when I use a flash, I close the aperture regardless, but shooting on the street isn't a problem for me.
