Of course, I read about him and I know the results of various tests, but I have not come across it before. I bought it used and the first thing that surprised me was the very modest size. With a similar length to 18-105, this lens is even a little Narrower. At the same time, it is slightly heavier and feels more reliable in the hands. I will describe a number of zooms with a standard viewing angle on the crop that I use or have used for a long time: Nikon 18-55vr, ​​18-55v2, 18-105vr, 28-80, canon 24-105 4lis, 24-70 2.8l, 18-55 2, 18-55 3, 18-55 is, 18-55 is2, 17-40 4l, tamron 17-50 2.8, 18-200, 18-270, sigma 28-70. And right after the listing, it is clear that none of them has 16mm at wide angle, so in this parameter 16-85 plugs all my zooms into the belt. There are also widths, but the widths don't even have 30mm on the long end, so it's not a standard zoom anymore. And 16-85, in addition to very wide 16mm, also offers very long 85mm, again, in the list of my glasses, few have stepped over this focal length. It turns out that the lens itself is good due to convenient focal lengths. And if the difference between 85mm and 70 or 105 is somehow more easily compensated, then the difference between 18mm and 16mm is a very noticeable difference. sometimes there is no way to move away and these 2 mm will mean a lot. Next, it is worth noting the sharpness of the lens. With such a spread of focal and modest sizes, I did not expect such sharpness from him. In general, it is better than a good 18-105vr and even more interesting 18-55vr2, which I consider a very good lens for my money. Moreover, sharpness begins with an open, strong soap is not even in the corners, and at aperture 5.6-8, in general, everything becomes wonderful. I want to note the very good performance of the lens in combating chromatic aberrations - almost none, and if they come out, Lightroom easily removes them. I was pleased with the stabilizer - it works out 3-4 stops, autofocus satisfied. Could be faster, but still good. In the end, I do not regret the purchase and can safely recommend this lens.
