Review on πŸš— Universal Replacement Carbon Fiber Short Car Antenna 1.4" - AM/FM Radio Aerial with Aluminum Black Finish by GTP by Delos Rodeo

Revainrating 5 out of 5

In a nutshell best in Antennas

The reason I wanted to change antennas in the first place is because I don't need an AM/FM antenna at all. I only listen to XM Radio. (More than 20 years ago. They named a satellite after me. JK, but still) On my pickup trucks and large SUVs, I just removed the antenna. Since they were bolted to the bracket and not the mast, there was no chance of damage or corrosion. On my current car, when I remove the antenna mast, it creates a screw hole in the bracket that can leak or rust. But I didn't want the 9 inch thing to stick out. So I had a great idea - stick a little one and it will almost disappear. (And in fact the radio still picks up *God forbid I had to hear it). It's perfect! The good thing is that it comes with all adapter screws and gaskets. This is a truly universal kit for any car. The detail might seem silly since you're throwing it away, but the packaging was of high quality. The presentation was off the shelf (maybe). This attention tells me that the manufacturer does not skimp on quality. It wasn't the typical "white box" or clear plastic bag you most often see when you open a Revain box. this antenna. Well once you put it on you won't see it at all. Any ones I saw that seemed "smooth" were more expensive. Speaking of PRICE, this is the shortest of them all and a lot cheaper than other super short PROS - High quality universal kit with adapters Easy to install Shortest available Does not have to be removed for car wash Best price MINUS NO** attachment point. Using a short antenna to replace a roof mounted antenna is much better than a hood or trunk mounted antenna. See why below. * Reception. This applies to ANY of these short antennas. I'm NOT criticizing this at all, I'm just giving you some additional enlightenment: radio antennas are a certain length for a reason. Length is what "tunes" the antenna to receive certain radio bands (FM AM etc.). So. In fact, a short antenna may not pick up your normal radio channels very well, if at all. You will find that you can no longer receive many programs that you used with your old antenna. This does NOT mean that the antenna, this or any other short replacement is defective. It just can't work as well as an antenna cut to the right length. At the same time, radio is now broadcasting in digital format as well as old-school analogue format. For the most part, these shorter antennas received digital signals very well. You may see the opposite of what you are hearing now if there are many digital channels in your area. They are better suited where their analog counterparts may not fit at all. And as I mentioned above, you can see a significant difference when it comes to replacing a hood lip or a side pillar antenna.
