This is the first personal GPS I've bought, although I've played around with some of the more expensive ones before (Hertz "NeverLost"). It is true that this device does not come with an instruction manual. However, if you tinker with it a bit before attempting to use it, you should be able to understand most of its features. There are many pre-programmed lists ("Points of Interest"). You can select a POI from the list and navigate to it, or add it to your current route. My only wish is that you can see the points of interest on the map while you are in the view that guides you along your route. However, you can only see POIs on the map in the map view. However, you can search for POIs along your route. This is a great little gadget and for the price you DEFINITELY can't do better. You get a lot of value for very little cost. Very happy!
