I like this ruler because it offers more precision and eliminates inseams. Matching the middle will still be an issue when both halves are sewn together. The instructions might suggest starting from the center and sewing in one direction and then repeating in the other direction for a good match when working with half stars. Unfortunately, due to the amount of trimming required, the ruler results in more fabric waste than making Lemoyne stars the traditional way. With fabric priced at $12 or more per yard, the ruler will make your projects more expensive. Additional cropping requires additional time, which is why the term "Rapid Fire" in the title is misleading. If you're making very small stars (like 3 inches when you're done), trimming becomes a challenge because of the awkward seams that cause the ruler to slip and tilt. So knowing how to sew seams will save you fabric and time - you don't need this ruler.
