The coat itself seems to keep the pup warm and warm. Unlike other coats we've tried, this one has padding from chin to belly that keeps the front warm and weatherproof. Some simply wrap around the neck and abdomen, leaving the chest open. The quick access zipper won't fit if your dog pulls at all. The zipper didn't break but we caught and almost lost it. It was okay not to use it. The rubber bands are total crap. One broke within the first week. The cloak was heavy enough not to dangle. It's not advertised as "waterproof," but it has survived multiple downpours without getting soaked. I would recommend this to someone.
