Review on Klein Tools K12035 Klein-Kurve Heavy Duty Wire Cutters and Wire Stripping Tool by Chris Norman

Revainrating 3 out of 5

A very decent multi-tool for the price.

I'm a journeyman and bought this a few months ago, I use it a lot and it's quite serviceable but there are downsides, right away the jaws don't quite peak , so there is a bit of play (could just be unlucky), they also have a lot less leverage and are a bit narrower than pliers so twisting the links takes a bit of getting used to and they can't replace linesmen in that regard, but i can 4 Connect #14 or 3 #12 without much difficulty. The strippers work great and overall it's way better than most strippers. The screw cutters are good and the knives cut well, but I would recommend the side cut version with an upset tool over the shear cut. I also think the steel is lacking compared to other Klien tools, I've had them in less time than my other hand tools and although they are regularly oiled and cleaned they do tend to rust, mostly on the sides which seems cheaper . processed and not smooth. All in all, they come in very handy for things like fan and jig installations, where you essentially need to cut and strip wires, cut screws, and maybe twist a splice or two. This allows me to carry a lineman and a stripper so much in one tool easier than pliers, which I like because I'm lazy. They are very affordable and the quality reflects that, pretty decent and will get the job done.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for the elderly
