Review on ๐Ÿ”‘ Premier Gear PG-17834: Unmatched Professional Grade New Starter for Optimal Performance by Ken Hamdan

Revainrating 4 out of 5

EQUIPMENT AND NEW OR NOT? FIT AND WORK GREAT.

Arrived today. VERY nice packaging BUT without mounting screws. The screws are in the picture and the box says the hardware is included, but I did not receive the screws. Does the sticker on the starter say it was made in Japan but remanufactured in the US? Confusing at best! Looks well done. Arrived quickly. Haven't installed it yet so can't comment on fit or performance until I install it this weekend. Looks good but not sure if the screws should be included as shown in the Revain description and picture? Am I giving 3 stars for missing screws and possible false advertising issues? New or not? The sticker on the starter reads "Rebuilt". Why ? There are no screws included. Still a good price, great packaging as shown on Revain and fast UPS shipping within 2 days. See selection with sticker. The other photo shows the starter if that helps anyone? Curious if the fit and functionality is good? I haven't installed it yet, so I don't know. The price is compatible with the same starter under a different brand at Rock Auto. Seems very reasonable when a new starter. OEM costs hundreds more! Also note that this should fit 2001 Pathfinders but not 2000 models. Check the VIN for the correct production date of the vehicle. The 10th digit of the chassis number indicates the year of manufacture of the vehicle. The sticker on the door frame may indicate a different year than the VIN. So check the VIN to avoid ordering the wrong starter and save yourself the hassle of sending the product back. My door says 2000 BUT VIN says 2001. My car is 2001. If in doubt always use the 10th digit of the VIN date. Friendly advice. Not an expert, but something to think about. The sticker on the door and the chassis number do not match the year of manufacture. The VIN is CORRECT so be aware. Save yourself the headache of ordering the wrong starter! For your information. The VIN is the identification number of your vehicle. Shown on the registry, on top of the dashboard, etc. The frustrated screws shown and described on Revain were NOT included. I don't know if I should have gotten them or not but according to the description they should have been there. If it fits and works well I would give 4 or 5 stars but haven't installed it yet. RENEW ! . Installed the starter today. Perfect fit for the 2001 VQ Pathfinder 3.5L engine. Started 10 times and very good. Change to 4 stars. Would give 5 EXCEPT the fasteners/screws shown in the Revain picture and described on the Revain 'What's in the Box' were NOT included. Disappointed they were not included despite the description and picture saying so. Fits perfectly and has worked very well so far. Still curious WHY the sticker on the starter says made in Japan but RESTORED in the USA? Does it look like new and should it? Ads need fixing! I am surprised that neither Revain nor Premiergear have emailed me about these two issues. A follow-up email explaining my concerns would be very helpful. Or changing misleading ads would help. Definitely fits and works well. Installation took about 1/2 hour. Cramped workspace but you don't have to take anything off to get there like some people claim. Direct installation, only a very narrow space to navigate. No need to remove tires or other stuff that a lot of people post online. (The part fits my 2001 Pathfinder. 3.5L VQ 4WD engine. SE trim. Automatic transmission.) Very good product apart from misleading advertising and sticker issues. Otherwise would have given 5 stars.
