worked great. It fits snugly into your existing hard drive tray and literally took less than 5 minutes to swap out. The trick, as others have said, is to download the PS3 update onto a USB stick and boot it into the new hard drive. 1.) Go to playstation.com, go to PS3 Software & Updates and download the latest version on your computer.2.) Create a new "PS3" folder on your USB drive.3.) Open PS3 USB folder and create a new folder "UPDATE" 4.) Move the downloaded software file from your computer to a USB stick and place it in the "UPDATE" folder. 5.) Insert the USB stick into the PS3's front USB port and follow the prompts to update your PS3. I kept getting an error message on my PS3 that the update file could not be found on the USB stick. created and after some research found that the PS3 does not like or recognize some USB sticks. So I used another one and built the same steps as above on it and it finally worked. Don't panic if this happens, get another USB drive until the PS3 likes it and it works.
