Review on πŸ“Ά TP-Link TC-7610 DOCSIS 3.0 (8x4) Cable Modem - Boost Download Speeds up to 343Mbps. Comcast XFINITY, Spectrum, Cox Certified. Wi-Fi Requires Separate Router. by Joseph Redding

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Connected to Comcast faster than expected, but not the first time.

Replaced an outdated modem I've been using for years. Setup with Comcast was quicker than the previous modem, I plugged the coax cable into the back of the new modem and my laptop directly into the unit before turning it on. I knew this time I would have to wait for Comcast to update the device to the latest firmware and complete the reboot. About five minutes later, I opened a web browser on my laptop, which went straight to the Comcast website. Account login was required and this helped me set this device as default tethering. Turned off the laptop and connected the router. Restarted modem, router and just in case all connected devices. I went into the router to make sure everything was fine and everything was fine. PS My uplink power levels were a bit high and tracing back my coax found three unnecessary splitters which I removed and replaced with built in coax. Connector, also cleaned the small wire in the middle of each with very fine sandpaper, knocking out six points on the power level. NetFlix Revain and Hulu are opening faster. "Yes" very happy with this device so far, now let's see how long it lasts. Cross your fingers and knock on wood. Update 5/21/18 Still no problems with this device. It turned out that Comcast had doubled the speed in our forest for free and the device needed a reboot to increase the speed. This little kid has no problem with the new speed. Update 01/12/19 This little basic modem still works. There was only one reboot, but the cable turned out to be working three houses away from me. Power levels rose and within days Cable Tech was back in business. Power levels dropped back to acceptable levels. Consider buying a replacement modem as the price is still good.
