Review on Phomemo M200 Label Maker Bluetooth Retailing by Coby Hall

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Perhaps a good pocket printer will be killed by poor software (app) performance

I bought this as a Mother's Day gift for my wife along with extra rolls of thermal labels. The printer itself appears to be of acceptable quality, but the software application (Print Master) is worse than terrible. Setting up an account through the app just doesn't work. Some apps work on her iPhone 7 but not mine. Accessing other features and templates in the "cloud" doesn't work on my phone either. In all the time I've owned iPhones since they came out, I've never seen an app that works on one and doesn't work on another (with the same settings). The app is full of spelling mistakes (in English). We'd try it on an Android tablet BUT the app doesn't show up in the Google Play Store, although we can find links to it on Google Search and the Phomemo website. The instructions are VERY uninformative. The tutorials are completely empty in the app. The meager videos on YouTube are almost all marketing, not practical. It seems very strange that this printer is part of the Phomemo product line but requires the use of the Print Master app instead of the software used for other less expensive but more expensive Phomemo printers like the M02 etc. Other software looks much more reliable and appears to have gone through stricter quality control before leaving the factory. Mini/portable printers use thermal paper, suggestions for using such printers and thermal paper for scrapbooking or other long-term printing purposes are totally inappropriate. When thermal paper is exposed to bright light, it practically disappears. So why spend hours creating high-quality albums only for some of the content to disappear? Scrapbooks are often made from "300 year old paper" so don't use thermal paper for things you want or expect to last. It will not be for your grandchildren to read or enjoy. In short, we can print a label, but it's not as easy as some people think. The app is a deal breaker and certainly defies proper quality control. A sad state of affairs when it's part of the entire Phomemo product line. Looks like this purchase will return to Revane.
