Review on 7-in-1 USB C Hub with Ethernet Adapter, 4K HDMI, USB 3.0, SD Card Reader, Type-C PD Charger, Gigabit Ethernet Portable for MacBook Air/Pro, Mac Pro, and other Type C laptops by William Byrd

I really appreciate that this is one of the few products of this type that clearly states that it uses an Ethernet chip. I was specifically looking for a USB-C to Ethernet hub that uses an ASIX chip, which is important for broad compatibility. I saw another review that said this device uses a Realtek ethernet chip but advertises an ASIX chip. At least not in my case. The hub I received uses an ASIX chip as advertised. I was able to use it as a docking station for both my laptop and Nintendo Switch. Everything worked as expected, power, HDMI, Ethernet and USB peripherals. I'm deducting a star and marking compatibility issues in the title because I ran into an issue that I found odd and frustrating. I first bought this hub because I wanted to try and expand the functionality of the new Chromecast with Google TV by adding Ethernet ports, USB and micro SD storage. Since the Chromecast only has one USB-C port, which is primarily used for power, a powered USB-C hub was a must. This hub just won't power the Chromecast. Not with the power adapter that came with Chromecast or with any other USB-C charger I have. I was able to get everything working as I hoped with a similar hub sold here on Revain branded "HooToo". Chromecast plugged in directly with the included power adapter, and Ethernet and micro SD work great too. The only conclusion I can come to is a weird compatibility issue with this hub. However, I'm keeping it anyway because, as mentioned, it works well with my laptop and Nintendo Switch and will definitely come in handy for them. I really like the port layout on this hub better than other similar hubs.
