Great for Photoshop, gets a little warm

The first thing I noticed when setting up was how quick it was to boot to the Windows setup screen. As someone who repairs and assembles PCs and laptops, I really didn't expect this. It was immediately clear to me that this must be what drives the 5500U. The laptop comes pre-installed with Windows 10 20H2, which is the latest version as of the review date, so that's a plus. The screen was a little dark initially and I noticed in the reviews that another said it was too dark. After adjusting the brightness in Windows Mobile, the picture looked much better, although to be honest it could have been a bit brighter, but not bad. Colors are slightly off and I had to calibrate some settings in Photoshop to take this into account. I've noticed with Windows updates that the fan kicks on fairly frequently and is a bit noisy. This setup bothered me a bit, so I did some more testing. I tested Heaven and Cinebench by running HWMonitor in the background. The results I got were 38c at idle and 94c at medium load. I wasn't overly impressed with either the idle temp or the high temp. I've seen a bit of throttling occur because of this. Although you CAN play this pretty well, I'd honestly suggest a cooling pad on the bottom for a little extra protection. The tablet mode/screen switching works really well, and as I said in the title, it's great for Photoshop. My daughter who is a digital artist draws on a tablet on her desk so I gave her this one. She was thrilled to have a Windows 10 laptop/tablet to run Photoshop on the go. I will give my old laptop to my aunt. Overall I think this is a pretty bad laptop with lots of power and lots of power, but due to the temperature issues I'm seeing I'll be deducting 1 star. The temperature issues I've seen don't make this a bad laptop at all and don't reflect what you would typically see in everyday use. I took it to a higher thermal point just to check. While I'm deducting 1 star for personal reasons, I still recommend this laptop if you're looking for a flip-type tablet with plenty of computing power to take with you on the go, as long as you don't mind the occasional boost in performance. Fan under heavy load.
