Review on Wsky LED Camping Lanterns: Bright, Portable, Waterproof And Battery-Powered by Cody Siger

Great Lantern for Car Camping.

I have a lot of lanterns including rechargeable (2), gas (3), and regular battery powered (4). However, after using this one on a four day/three night recent camping trip, it has become my go to lantern. Although it has a lot of optional lighting modes (i.e. Backup battery, red flashing light and flashlight options), its key feature, as a lantern lighting up the table, tent, or surrounding area, works without equal (in my collection).I found the lantern's battery plenty sufficient for the four day, Pacific Northwest, late summer camping trip on which I recently used it. In testing at home before the camping trip, the lantern burned for about five hours with high intensity, at which time it dimmed somewhat and burned for about another three hours before the battery was depleted. Even when it reverts to dim mode, however, it is still a bright lantern and put out sufficient light to play a popular dice game at night. By putting the lantern into warm light mode, I found it didn't attract nearly as many flying insects as it did in white light mode.As mentioned, the light sports a big battery and, consequently, takes a long time to recharge. It took an average of about ten hours to charge the lantern from an externally powered usb port attached to my computer. I expect that time could be reduced by using a more current usb technology. One minor caveat: I was a little frustrated that I could find no means of monitoring the progress of depleting the battery or of recharging it until it was fully charged (at which time a light by the connection port on the lantern went from flashing to constant on). This seems like an oversight in what is, otherwise, a very well engineered and constructed rechargeable lantern.Overall, I'm very pleased with this lantern and am happy to make it the alpha dog of my collection.
