Poor quality control - several tufts of bristles missing.

DISAPPOINTMENT: SEE PHOTO. From the box, the smaller of the two brushes lost several tufts of bristles. Look closely at the center of the brush in the photo accompanying this review, you will see three black circles at the tip of the brush where the bristles should be. I'm sure it doesn't affect the function of the brush much but such a big disappointment in quality control. Memories of the LOST spot on every Christmas tree I've ever picked: / SETUP: Black ultra-hard grill brushes (mini and 3.5" corner brushes) used with a 18v cordless mini hole punch. Also proven high-quality impact wrench. High power and speed with both tools CHALLENGE: Clean the char from the ceramic-coated cooking grate of three greasy ribeye steaks RESULTS: Mech. 6/10. First, the GrillBrush cleaned a pile of loose or protruding bits of burnt residue. promising. After about a minute I noticed a slight additional benefit if I kept brushing. The bars were ALMOST (but not completely) smooth, but there was still a lot of roughness between the bars and the recessed parts of the bars. Due to a lack of progress I stopped as I didn't want to damage the ceramic coating on my bars. Obviously the work is not done yet, I think I need to find another approach. *sigh* I plan on heating the grills to over 750 degrees for a while to turn whatever is left over into crispy charcoal and ash, and I'm going to try the GrillBrush again. If that doesn't help I'll soak the grates in DAWN overnight and try again. If these preliminary procedures help, I'll update my review with the results.

Pros
  • Restore the grill surface to like-new condition. Remove burnt, hardened food particles and stubborn grease from the grill. Use only on a COLD grill (never hot). Aggressive ultra-stiff bristles clean grills better than manual cleaning. No wires to break and get caught in your food.
Cons
  • Don't remind me
