Lack of insulation can be a problem

Well done. As mentioned, they don't come with instructions. It is assumed that you know how to install them. If you've never done this before, it might not be clear how to do it properly: strip the wire about 1/4 inch, thread it through the bottom of the jack, fan the stripped wire, and bend him around the edge . the base, making sure it is evenly spaced, and then screw the base into the pin section until it stops. This will compress the wire in place. Obviously they don't work with solid wire. Copper stranded wire 14-16 AWG. Well, if you have good speakers, you probably have binding posts that fit banana plugs. This is the best choice if you have the opportunity. If you're looking for pin connectors, chances are you have fewer - expensive speakers. On cheaper speakers, you usually have two clamp connectors that are close together. The problem is that when you use these connectors, they can touch behind the speaker. and thus a short circuit, since the bare metal housing of these connectors carries the loudspeaker line under voltage. You can work around this by using electrical tape or heat shrink tubing to insulate one or both connectors. Compared to competing insulated body connectors, this is more work and less attractive.
