Ineffective for finding spikes through carpet
I bought this to see if it would help me find spikes through carpet but it didn't work for me. Even after knowing exactly where the bolt was, I couldn't find a single nailhead. It works through drywall, but even an inexpensive electronic nail finder works better for this purpose. The magnet is small and not as strong as I expected based on the description. It's a pretty strong magnet, but nothing special.
