Review on 🎙️ EBXYA XLR Microphone Cable - Short 2ft Patch Cable in 4 Color Packs - Balanced 3-pin XLR Male to Female by Julio Fernandez

To avoid tangles, our band uses these 3 foot patch cords to connect wireless mic receivers to the PA amp at concerts instead of 25 feet -Wire microphone cable. We've color-coded everything so each person's gear is always grouped and it's easy to see who's connecting where. Bought these to replace black wires with colored tape markers and painted connectors. Just received it and took it out of the bag. They came with zip ties attached and a set of 6 Velcro zip ties that attach to wires for easy storage. The colors look nice and the cable is quite flexible. The plugs appear solid, but there doesn't appear to be any indexing on the socket end to ensure the pins line up properly with the tab when you unscrew the plug to look inside - you'll have to do that by hand, by eye. The color of the connectors takes the form of a plastic ring that can crack with careless use, but seems solid enough for almost any job and is overkill as you can't help but notice the color of the cable. I plugged the connectors together and a couple of microphones and a recording interface came in handy for me. In the past I've had issues with loose or, worse, too tight a fit, leading to gear issues. They fit perfectly and feel pretty solid when plugging in and out. The big downside is that there is no shrink tubing on the ends for strong strain relief. The cable itself is flexible and can be a hair's breadth smaller in diameter than some others, and the plastic strain relief built into the connectors doesn't hold the cable tight enough to provide the protection I prefer. As long as you never tug on them or try to tug on the cord they should hold up pretty well, but I wouldn't count on reliability if they're in a high traffic area or unwary users tug on the female end of the cord instead. plug to turn them off. You get what you pay for. I'll probably unscrew all the connectors and either add a few wraps of tape or paint some liquid tape to add a small diameter where the cable goes through the built in connector bracket. and it will improve durability. I use the correct diameter heat shrink tubing for the cables I build and may decide to install some of these on them, but it's quite difficult to desolder and re-solder the end to do this. I only needed three, so I'll probably take the other three as spares and add a decent strain relief if they don't work. However, the lack of adequate strain relief reduces my confidence in the product and I cannot recommend it unreservedly. With proper strain relief it will be 4.5-5 stars. If I kept the last half star it would be due to the lack of indexing in the outlet, but 99% of users will never notice that. We'll be testing these before they get used to the show, but they appear to be a great cable for casual or heavy-duty use, and good enough to give them a shot on stage.
