Works right away, at least for me. Easy setup too. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. Scan a few barcodes in the installation instructions and everything should work without any problems. Otherwise it's a pain to understand. This is basically a guide that can be tricky. TIPS: Open Notepad in Microsoft Windows and scan the barcode, the numbers should appear. If not, go back to the paper manual and scan the required 2-3 barcodes in the quick setup guide and that should do the trick. SCAN 1: Call setup (barcode under general function barcodes barcode area) SCAN 3: Exit by pressing save (barcode under general function barcodes) DONE! It's definitely an easier setup than other scanners on Ebay, for example.
