We use this for my 9 year old son who plays soccer goalkeeper. It's fairly light which is a good thing as my son also plays attacker half the game and keeps those pads on when he comes off the net. It also introduces some resistance when trying to move quickly. This is excellent value for money. More expensive pads will give you a bit more portability without the weight or loss of density/protection, but they may not be worth the price.
