Overheating/Melting issue

I purchased this item mid September 2019 and it appears to have been installed by 1st October 2019. It was fitted to a fairly old Central Pneumatic 38898 4 gallon pancake compressor. As many have reported, the switch I received did not have a ground wire tap. I attached the bottom with a screw holding the plastic cap in place. The next notable problem is that the red button switch does not stay pressed and the device always stays on. None of them were show stoppers. The third and most important problem has only recently emerged. I only use this compressor occasionally. I used it to blow grass clippings and dust my lawn mower from an overly dusty mowing episode, so I let it run a few cycles in a row. I smelled plastic and after researching it I found that the plastic body of the switch was melting as shown in the picture. The last time I used this compressor was venting a river rafting chamber. No problems that I noticed at the time. In summary, the switch appears to be defective, but it is a very cheap switch on an old and cheap compressor. It's possible that cheap equates to poor quality, but it's also possible I just got a bad one, as reviews are generally positive. Based on that, it's probably worth trying this cheap switch on a cheap device. If I were to put it on something more expensive I would look for a higher quality push button switch.
