Just think of the valve clearance. Move the plunger away from the valve you are working on. Notes on the Ford engine.

This doesn't work on a 3.6 liter Dodge but works great on a Ford. From top dead center I was able to raise the cams a bit individually and overcome the chain tension, just enough for the R&R -Lifters and rocker arms. 3.6L 2017 Truck Notes.
