Review on DevaCurl Ultra Defining Gel - Strong Hold No-Crunch Styler, Bright Breeze, 12 fluid ounces by Becky Evans

Takes curls. but not enough strong fixation!

For those who struggle with hair gel that holds curls and unruly hair all day. this could be something for you! It has an original flavor that I don't find objectionable. The consistency is a little fluffy (see attached photo), it's not hard on the jelly, and I love the one-handed flip-top lid - easy to use and not messy! I had 2 samples to try on - both with different expectations and both with very different results! #1: Husband has a natural wave in his hair that is styled under a crew cut - slightly longer at the front to allow him to comb up and down the natural curve of his hair (Anyone remember Max Headroom from the 80's?! Anderson Cooper, like – you got the idea!) Mine appreciated the feel of the touch after application. nothing hard or crunchy. But unfortunately the gel couldn't hold the wave! Keep in mind that these are just a few short fronts that he styles up and down in a small section of a very short scissor-over-comb haircut. The hair is not yet heavy and not long, the gel has not held its holding power. It's a little disappointing to have an "ultra-defining hair gel," especially when hair is styled along its natural wave. #2: 18 years old. The eldest son has a longer shaggy hairstyle of the same length - this is a natural curl / ripple around the entire perimeter. Ha, wipe! He used the gel to control the full volume of his curls and keep them from frizzing. Gel approached and responded with spades. It kept the fluffiness out all day, and in the cold Utah fall weather we use synthetic warmth. it is not an easy task! Overall, the curls were defined and noticeable, but relaxed. but the net volume was compressed, buy a full body gel application - he loved it! Depending on your hair type, this may suit your needs. but it's best to determine if it's right for your specific needs - at $24 for 8 ounces. that's definitely a higher price. We hope this information helps you make a decision - stay healthy!
